Relocation and schools: chicken and egg problem

What to do first?

My spouse has got a job in Stockholm and already moved there.
Our children and myself will follow. We, of course, would like to immediately place them to school. Basically we can choose when to move.

But then there is a dilemma: we would like to move when we know for sure they will get a place at school. However without a personnummer we cannot even get into the waiting list.

What to do first? I believe it is a typical problem and would appreciate your experiences.

We aiming at English-speaking schools. Engelska (in T?by) has a long queue. Any other decent school for 6 and 7 grades?
Thank you.

Ah... guessing you need temporary residence permits? You would be going the route of "moving to a family member already in Sweden". Giving you a heads up that this can take up to 2 years. I would think your kids would have an easier time as they are moving to their father. I would assume anyway. But it's going to be more difficult for you. Hopefully someone else here can help you
