(edit title) Imported car registration in Sweden Need help with registreringsbesiktning Options

Hello everyone,

I have imported a car from non-EU country to Sweden. But it feels like it is a big trouble to get a Swedish registration. My car is VW fully made in Germany but it has no EU certification number on the VIN sticker on the door and CoC (Certificate of conformity) since it was not made for EU market.
The inspection company took 2000 SEK for nothing and did not complete the registration. They said since CoC is missing I need to get somewhere "intyg" for brakes, antitheft and noises. DEKRA and TUV which they recommended me to turn to said that the only possible way to get these certificates is to drive to Germany which is ridiculously expensive and impossible since you can only drive a car with non EU plates after 1 week since moving in to Sweden.
Who had a situation like this or who have information how to solve this problem?
Maybe you can recommend some besiktning company that has experience with imported cars?

There are many companies that specialise in importing cars from the US, which is a well-trodden route. They might be able to help. But where are you importing the vehicle from? I don't think where it is made is relevant.

I recently worked with Carspect to get a non-standard but EU vehicle through the process; though in this case the certification authority was a Swedish one because it is an amateur-built car, and I had to do a complete build certification. The certification authority is called SFRO. I doubt that they can help with a series-production vehicle though, but you could ask.

As a rule of thumb - as as you are working out - it isn't really worth the bother to get a series-production car from outside the EU through the processes, unless it is something special. When all the dust has died down, you are likely to have spent as much money on the project as it would have cost simply to sell the car back in its homeland and buy a similar one here.

I imported a Japanese Mustang to Sweden from UK with no issues! As far as I am aware the CoC is a standard document which is obtained from the manufacturer.

Only if it was manufactured to EU specifications, I believe (NB - "manufactured to EU specifications", not "manufactured in the EU"). Which may well be the case for the OP, who presumably has already done the obvious thing and asked VW...

Car comes from Ukraine. It is relevant that it is made in Germany because it was mass production of the cars in full conformity with EU standards but some of the cars from the same consignment went outside EU and others inside EU. My car was the one that did not get CoC but it has no difference from the same cars that exist in EU.

It was obviously worth to import the car since it was tax free and the price of the same used car in Blocket and other websites in Sweden was twice as much as I would have get in Ukraine. It has running distance less than 50 000 km meanwhile other cars I looked up from the same year have 2-3 times more.

I already contacted Besikta engineer who advised my to order these papers from Volkswagen in Sweden main office directly but the process feels really slow. They send request to Germany anyway. So they can not do this on their own which is weird to me.

Anyway I will update how my story finished so maybe others can make a conclusion if it is worth/not worth the pain.
