I know that this post in kind of old but I will take my chances. I am also new in Eskilstuna and I was really hoping that I will find some people that speak English. I still have some issues with getting that personal number (complicated situation) but hopefully I will find as soon as possible a job.

I live here with my Swedish sambo, we lived together for 4 years before and decided to move to Sweden. He got a job as a doctor here so it had to be Eskilstuna. I am struggling in finding a job. How did you guys manage so fast? Any tips?

I also formed a group on Facebook - English speakers in Eskilstuna, maybe we can help each other and make some friends. Maybe we can communicate better there.

Nice to meet you! I'm actually from Eskilstuna, but have lived in the UK for the past 17 years and have just moved back this summer, with my English husband and English-speaking kids. Would love to meet other couples / families in a similar situation - not able to find your Facebook group though, is it public?

Re jobs, it depends largely on what type of job you are after, and where. My husband doesn't speak Swedish and still landed a job, similarly, I work in a company in Stockholm (commute isn't TOO bad) where more than half the employees don't speak Swedish. So it is certainly possible, but will be harder / easier based on your profession.

Welcome to Eskilstuna. I spend a lot of time there for work and, as noted earlier, the Stockholm commute is nothing. As for getting a job, map out a long term plan to get to where you want to be. One of the less-clever resident forum tolls here started crying about not getting a job despite supposedly having higher qualifications. That just shows ignorance. Foreign qualifications count for little in a new country. That's not Swedish, its global. Employers now are looking for relative experience, and local relative experience is gold. Get yourself some Swedish employment experience, at any level, and the doors will open. Oh, and learn the langauge if you don't want your prospects limited.
