Hi everyone,
I recently moved to Uppsala with my husband and will be here for two years. We were lucky to find an apartment, of course, given the difficulty of finding one. However, we had to leave our two cats behind in the US because the woman renting the apartment didn't let us bring them (understandably, because the apartment is furnished). Now, I'm spending time every day looking on Blocket, Bostaddirekt, Uppsalahem (with +1 year wait) and Uppsalastudentkar trying to find a new apartment where we can bring our cats, with no luck. Does anyone have any tips for finding an apartment or landlord that is pet-friendly? Or, are there any other sites people might recommend to add to my daily search? Thank you!! |

Can you afford to buy an apartment instead of renting? Alot of people here do that, it's not expensive and you can have your cats.
I'm not sure if most apartments in sweden allow animals or not. It seems like alot of them do if you look at the number of little dogs going around in town. They might live in an owned apartment though. I had to give my furbabies to the local animal shelter when I moved to sweden. Luckily it's no-kill and really nice, I still feel horrible about it though. I just didn't want to put them through the trauma of a long plane flight, then months of quarentine, all to end up living in an apartment. I hope you find something soon. |

Generally pets are allowed in apartments, and the only time they might not be is if you're renting 2:nd hand. If you can find yourself a 1:st hand contract, there shouldn't be any problems with having pets.
I have never heard of any apartments where pets aren't allowed, but if someone is renting out their apartment 2:nd hand, it is of course up to them I guess in some sense (and renting 2:nd hand, I wouldn't wanna try to go over the head of that person - meaning that pets probably are allowed, except that he/she doesn't want them in the apartment). |

Pets are always welcome in Tahoe Rentals. A maximum of two pets are allowed in each suite. A $25 (+ tax) per day, per pet non-refundable cleaning fee for the first month (not to exceed $150 + tax per pet), payable the first night of your stay and is charged at check-in. Each month thereafter is a $10 non-refundable fee (+tax) per day for the first 5 days of each month (not to exceed $50 + tax per month, per pet). This fee is to cover the cost of cleaning and fumigating guest room. Service animals will be exempt from this charge. Height and length restrictions apply: pets can be no longer than 36 inches and no taller than 36 inches.
