The Local _ Miscellaneous _ Mopeds

Hi all.

I am looking for a bit of advice from anyone with moped or engineering experience!

We recently bought a Puch Maxi. The bike is in good condition and was running really well. Over the last couple of days however it has started stalling a lot including when switching to full beam sad.gif

I checked the bottom of the engine block and saw some sticky black build up near the exhaust outlet. Not sure if it was there a few days ago or if it is indicative of something bad.

I know nothing about mechanical issues and have no pengar for a mechanic. Any advice or theories welcome.

Thanks!

Huh?

Put some homemade spirits on the fuel tank. (0.5 dl)

PS: Do you have oil in the fuel?

Clean the plug. Ignition plug!!?
Exhaust leakage has nothing to do with it.
Usually it's condens (water in the gas which can freeze) or the ignition plug.

The plug is the thing located to the left on your first picture. It has a cable conected to it. Take of the cable and unscrew the plug. Clean the anode and catode at the end of this...

If there's oil on the plug-tip, you might change some gaskets. This is a bigger operation, but you could ask your swedish neighbor or his teenage son.

Thanks Espen. I will have a look at the spark plug.

I intend to learn a bit about mechanics over time. Its a useful skill.

Its the battery! change it at Biltema... Nothing to do with plugs or fuel... trust me on this one!

I appreciate the advice and it would be good if you were right! Sadly it has no battery to change.

I am going to clean the spark plug tomorrow and replace the air filter as well. Hopefully that should sort the problem

I agree with Espen on this one: The black build up most likely is a result of badly burnt fuel probably due to an uncleaned spark plug...

Changed the spark plug and air filter and (touch wood) everything is much better... It starts first time, the lights are brighter and it no longer stalls!

Thanks for the advice chaps.

p.s
The old spark pug was dirty and ancient but not covered in problem indicating crap. Happy days!

Dear folks, Anyone shares their knowledge or experience about Moped klass 1 & 2 its route, what the difference between them, I want to buy a moped but still confused which one should buy. If I buy klass 1 moped so can I go to the Stockholm city to Kista galleria? because I heard that klass 1 or 2 can not be run on motorway, so how a moped approaches towards destination where motorway involved? Thanks

Take an alternative mode of transport.
