(edit title) How to receive BBC TV Getting British TV Options

I'm sure this subject has been aired before but I tried "search" but nothing came up. Who uses what to get BBC TV? We currently use a dongle which proves quite expensive. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Using a VPN on a PC works fine, then you can access IPlayer.

Especially on the West coast, a very large satellite dish also does the trick.

Using a ?120cm. dish and a Freesat box. Works fine except in snow and heavy cloud with rain - which can be over the UK or Sweden. With it over both then very little gets through - such as yesterday and last night. Under normal reception you can even get BBC & ITV in HD - such as today and tonight.

You can also use the Smart DNS from www.overplay.net. Within their admin, you can select which country your PC appears to be in for different channels (i.e. Amazon UK or USA). If you use this together with a free dynamic DNS such as NoIP, it's possible to configure this with some routers - so the router appears to be in different countries and you can access the TV on all of your wifi devices.

Or just go to http://www.expatvision.net and purchase their box and monthly subscription and watch every uk channel going if you want.

Been using this for years now and it works fine as long as you have good internet.

I would suggest the VPN alternative, make sure you choose a provider without too many users to avoid getting blacklisted.

The Filmon app is the simplest. It requires no VPN for standard definition. VPN works very well if you want to access BBC iPlayer for catchup TV.

The app on my phone still allows to me to access the channels without cost. There is a cost to see it on HD on a computer and for free with adverts. I recommend using Filmon from your smartphone and stream it to your TV. I have an Apple phone and stream via Apple TV.

I use StrongVPN to watch BBC iPlayer. There are many streaming sevrices that you can subscribe to get sports TV from Sky, BT and the main UK channels.

Expressvpn, and they use their own dns servers. Most other vpn companies require 3rd-party dns servers, which may not be encrypted at all defeating the whole point of having a vpn.

As soob as I say that, they prompted me to pay after 5 mins on filmon. Oh well, but VPN is the way to go in my experience.
