Now that there are news on TheLocal about JihadJane etc., and then lots of comments/threads here explaining that the author did some kind of great job to make that cartoons.
I was just wondering, does any person has a right to hurt other peoples feeling? Like, I mean If something is much dear to you, you have passion for that, and then some person comes and start insulting that, telling that he has freedom of expression. People explain that there have been cartoons about Jesus etc but they don't care. Its just that for them that thing doesn't much matter, but why you need to hurt others who care a lot?
I never participated in comments here esp. about religion, but I could not stop writing this because I dont know the author of the cartoons, and as far I know, I never hurted him, but he did hurt me.

If you can't take people having different opinions, ranting, insulting one another or "hurting other people's feelings" and enjoying freedom of speech you shouldn't be on the internet reading a public forum.

The world you want doesn't exist and I for one am glad of that. Just think how boring of a place it would be.

Why were you hurt ? He did not force you to watch them, you probably knew what you might see. If someone claims your religious books offend (or hurt their feelings) them should your books be banned ?

If people simply ignore these childish cartoons, after a while no one will create or publish them. But people make huge fuss about it, which means it will keep happening. I doubt anyone would have even talked about these cartoons twice if the few Muslims who saw them first had kept their mouth shut. Muslims themselves help to spread these cartoons, threat violence, then claim they are hurt and create extremely bad impression of rest of Muslims. Even if you find them extremely offensive, it is more rational to ignore them.

Danish cartoons were a little funny but Swedish one had no purpose other than to get publicity.

I changed the title as the original sounded too much like an invitation to Jihad - I found it offensive.

Whilst I realise that I am being drawn in by yet another troll, here goes anyway...

The point here is not that people have the right to deliberately hurt peoples feelings, but rather that people have the right to express themselves how they wish without being limited by what anyone else may or may not find offensive or otherwise damaging to their sensibilities.

Put it this way, it hurts my feelings everytime the Chelsea or England football teams lose a match so does this mean I have a case for calling for the banning of all other football teams? Of course it doesnt. Someone is always going to be offended by something no matter how innocuous the cause of the offence. It is vital that society allows us to say what we want and does not ban us from free expression just because one or more numpties may take offense.

Now I'm just guessing that you, the OP are muslim as you claim to have hurt feelings over certain drawings of the illiterate, paedophillic (he took a nine year old wife) so called "prophet" of your imaginary friend. I suggest that instead you should take a look at the others in your faith who fly planes into buildings, blow themselves up on buses and trains, encourage children to do the same, slice the heads of defenceless prisoners, sew up the vaginas of their female off spring, teach their children that Jews are pigs, beat their women for daring to show too much skin, using gang rape as a legal punishment and riot and murder because someone not sharing your faith draws a cartoon. Now answer the question; Which is more offensive? Which is more damaging to peoples feelings (or perhaps much more)? Maybe you as a "moderate" muslim, should target you energies into standing against all these things done in the name of your religion, before you winge on about being "hurt" by a drawing.

Grow a pair my friend...

Johnnyrebel tells me that he has been banned.

So much, it seems, for freedom of expression - you are free to express whatever the authorities permit.

Who's next? Me, for telling the truth about why 'Jihad Jane' was framed?

Still waiting the report about what happened, if anything, to my computer when we were away in California.

Trowbridge,

You know, "freedom of expession" also allow you to correct mistakes you made.

Your "all 100,000 Armenians who don't possess a Turkish passport are "illegal" residents in Turkey, and that's why the Prime Minister of Turkey considers appropriate to threaten them with expulsion" claim!

You do talk non-sense of gigantic proportions, most of the time...!

You could start practicing what you preach by correcting misspellings, correctly copying quotations by others, and making wild, unsubstantiated claims.

The Swedish cartoonist and Danish cartoonist are both old, over 60 years old.

The reason they make such a cartoons of someone who is dear to more than billions European,American Asian is because these two cartoonist actually did not study about Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.

That is not nice to put a human body into animal. in Islam you are told that humans are the best creature of God above all creatures. we should respect our value.

Since these two cartoonist are old aged people they deserve more respect. May God guide them to do something good than provoking.

What prophet Mohammad pbuh said about old aged people "

"To every young person who honors the old, on account of their age, may god appoint those who shall Honor him in his years."

"Verily, to Honor an old man is showing respect to God. "

His another saying"

"Do not say that if the people do good to us, we will do good to them and if the people oppress us, we will oppress them but determine that if people do good to you, you will do good to them and if they oppress you, you will not oppress them."

The thing is Newyork-växjö that "God" didnt say anything but rather Muhammad is supposed to when he wasnt claiming to be possessed by djins or other evil entities. If you want to believe that the ravings of this afore mentioned illiterate, paedophile are the words of god and live your life around them, then thats fine, but dont expect the rest of us to be compelled to.

At least Gary Glitter could read...
