Hi all, if I were to travel to Sweden with very little money, but a dual UK Swede citizenship, would I be entitled to any benefits until I find full time work, or do you have to have lived/worked in Sweden a certain amount of time to be entitled to any help with rent and money to live?

Many thanks smile.gif

"In your case, going off of what you present of yourself here, sweden would be a perfect fit."

It's true RitchT, in Meatballia, exploitative/opportunist butt-wads such as yourself, are KING!

It's like you're more Meatballian than the natives!

And in addition, if you have gender issues, and/or, you are a radical militant Fembot, you'll truly find paradise!

Welcome to Meatballia!

Ok sorry, I understand it didn't look good the way it was presented. If I give some background it might not look as bad.My mother was a full Swedish national born in Swede ... (show full quote)

In a word, no. You will not be entitled to social welfare.

However, if you are unemployed you can transfer your Job Seeker's Allowance for 3 months then you either support yourself or you have to return to the UK to continue to claim.

I guess you do not have a personal number? Citizenship does not guarantee a p/n so you'd need to apply for that.

In addition you will not find somewhere to live in a few weeks. If you are lucky you'll get a 2nd hand contract but you'll need a deposit, references and somewhere else to live as you can only have it for a maximum of 12 months.

You would be better off writing to the Swedish consulate in the UK or visiting them.
