hey guys

So, the non -EU, we still need to wait before claiming victory.

I'm from Nicaragua (anyother from Nicaragua applying to the SI scholarship?)

I got in my 2nd choice, Global Studies in Lund, with a MR 900 of 900.

Do you guys think that for the SI scholarship there are more relevant programs? like computer science being more relevant than global studies?

do you think that the fact of getting in your 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice influences the selection of the scholarship?

do you guys think that the MR has something to do with the chances of getting the scholarship?

Share your thoughts and opinion,

and to all of you, good luck!

I do not thing MR has anything to with SI.. I think they (SI) mentioned that the assessment is not based on academic merits as it is already assessed via the educational institutes

It is said like this in the Letter of Motivation:

The goal for the Swedish Institute is for the scholarship holders to play an active role in the society in which
they live. Your scholarship application should show an ambition to work with issues that, within your
context and field of study/research, contribute to global development in general and the development of your
country and region in particular.

If you can show strong linkage between your major and the above aims, then you have big chances to get the scholarship. It does not matter what major you apply for.

I don't think the rank of your choice affects the result. If you are conditionally admitted to any program, SI Selection Committee will automatically consider your application for the scholarship (including your Motivation Letter and CV for that program specifically).

I don't think MR will affect the results. Only Motivation Letter and CV are considered.

You have better chance of the grants if you showed clear intention to return back to your home country to work once education is completed. Circular Migration, as they call it.

@Mekano,

How do you know the stats for SI scholarship? If Swedish Institute/anyone has setup a website to display the stats , can you please share it with us?

I was looking for acceptance statistics from past years, University Admissions Sweden approximately received around 600 to 700 applications from Category 1 countries , you have a better chance of getting accepted onto Category 1 because this year they have alloted around 450 scholarships for this category. Category 2 is a mess, its a cut throat competition for category 2.

Above is the link I used to find out stats

@all-is-well

I checked it before it's for 2012. I agree that category one has less competitive due to large number of awards.
