The anonymous Swedish note writers

Anyone else regularly come across them?

Wow. looks like you've had the full-on Swedish experience!

I have a similar tale, and it does involve the laundry room, but not quite in the same way.

It was a 4 flat building, 2-floors; laundry room on the 2nd level between my flat and the "neighbours".

So, we'd occasionally heard "banging", but were not sure is it coming from the wall, or the floor. Since we were not doing anything differently than usual, we ignored it since after sometime (each time, and there had been quite a few) the banging ceased at some point.

Having a few beers on a Friday night, doing laundry, since it was first-come first-served type of arrangement; I noticed the neighbour's teenage son was having a party. No problem for me, so, I kept doing laundry as teens etc were starting to come into the flat.

Eventually the mother came out and asked if I would like to join the party. Since I was well "into the night" by that stage, I said sure. We cross the threshold of their flat, and the mother grabs my arm, and "leads" me to a bedroom, which happened to be hers, on the adjoining wall of where we had our music/TV set-up.

Now I did stay anyway after that, and I did in fact drink a load of their booze (as it turns out) but the whole point of "inviting" me to the party was to show me that it was her who'd been banging on the wall all those times. And later, outside, her son told me his mom had many times gone to sleep on the couch (because I was watching TV!)

Now, I don't normally get complaints from neighbours, but if I am doing something "wrong", somehow, I expect adults to give a knock on the door, and explain they have to wake at 5 am, or whatever, and "could I keep it down"? And if done properly and respectfully, I am happy to oblige.

The last thing I would expect is a random banging noise, coming from somewhere, as a result of some passive-aggressive neighbour who is unhappy about something.

I found it really odd, but after some time in Sweden, I started to really see how terrified people there are of a confrontation, no matter how mild and uneventful. Some kind of cowardliness going on in the mighty village of Sweden!

But hey, is that a fist in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? laugh.gif

Lol!

So, even the "confrontation" in lieu of a "note" doesn't work there. I had to kind of guess that it must have been this person who'd had the "problem", and that it must have been said person banging on the wall. It was never said to me, even while this woman was holding on to my arm as she "showed" me!

Next time he comes by, just grab him by the arm and take him to your bedroom, and then just stand there in the doorway of the room, holding his arm, and looking at the bed!

lol!

so happy i do not have to book laundry time anymore, in these new productions or new buildings, you have the option of having a washing machine and dryer in your apartment and there is of course the communal washing room which i hardly use, when i was renting, definitely had a few issues with people trying to take your allocated time, no big deal

Everything must come...

Maybe you and Grandpa should just hook up on Grindr instead of your continuous circle-jerk here? I hardly think your Meatballian wife will mind, as she's been banging your friends since you got back to Portland.
