Hi Forum,

my wife (non-EU citizen) and I (Swedish citizen) are planning to apply for a sambo visa for her. We're a bit confused about whether she could keep her current job.

She's currently working for a company in another EU country, and the company does not have an office in Sweden. Would she be allowed to continue working for that company from Sweden (and obviously pay taxes in Sweden) under the sambo visa rules?

Cheers,

cebro

Exactly; her job can be done 100% remotely (minus some travelling). The question we couldn't really answer from the Migrationsverket website is whether that's compatible with a sambo visa.

A "sambo visa" is formally a residence and work permit that will permit the bearer to do any kind of paid work in Sweden.

North Korea

I'm pretty sure if you get yourself a virtual contract with a north Korean company then SV will happily tax you whilst living here just like anyone else. The challenge might be getting that job in the first place.

Isn't the fact that if it is your wife it's not your Sambo? Wouldn't the rules be different, or have Swedes watered down a marriage so much that they equate it to shacking up?

Just curious...
