I realized I forgot to reply to this as I was eating dinner. First off - you've no idea what I'm used to from the US, so please do not make assumptions. Secondly - my reasoning to move here was in part because I was homeless, and given a place to live by my fianc?. I did not once say I would spend "all [my] time with other foreigners", in fact often spend many hours with my fianc?'s whole family (almost once a month). However, because I'm still learning Swedish, it's stressful to me to sit in a room full of people speaking Swedish, trying to understand what they're saying, and failing 99% of the time. I don't think wanting friends who I can speak to in my native tongue is a lot to want. And, before you ask, I do have a few friends in the US and in England, but it's not exactly easy to go to a movie, out to eat, go to the mall, or just hang out with someone when they're in another country and/or the other side of the globe. |
