Hi!

Soon my LO is turning 3 monthes and nurse says in Sweden they start vaccinating children starting from 3rd month. There are so many controversial information about vaccines that i am not sure which way to go. Have you given vaccines to your children? If no why not? What is your opinion about vaccines?

Any opinions or thoughts are much appreciated!

Have you spoken to the doctor about the ingredients in the vaccination? I would never subject a child to anything containing even a trace amount of mercury. Supposedly, that is not done anymore but I would be completely sure of that.

They don't vaccinate to make you sick they vaccinate to keep you from getting sick...

Just look at what measles is doing now...Vaccinations would have stopped this...

By refusing to vaccinate your child, social services should be informed. A person would be massively increasing the risk of their kids from being seriously ill or even dying. There are no excuses in the 21st century to even consider not vaccinating for a second.

No, there's not. All of the anti-vax stuff is bs and has been fully debunked.

Get educated from reputable sources, not anti-vax idiots with no training who only reference their own literature and not scientific studies.

The autism thing is total bs. It has been debunked time and time again, and the original author of the paper has even said so. Read more here: https://leftbrainrightbrain.co.uk/2013/08/2...-with-vaccines/

There are indeed two perspectives, but only one of them is evidence-based.

In a nutshell - vaccination works. Really. Probably the single largest public health improvement / reduction of mortality (and morbidity) ever alongside available nutrition, antibiotics & clean water.

In a slightly longer wrapper - there is a small but non-zero risk of a complication - though it won't come from non-existent excipients, nor will you get autism. So if you have a choice, it is between - do I vaccinate (deliberately exposing to a real but tiny, tiny risk) or not (leaving the child exposed to a larger but random risk, and a risk that increases every time someone does the same, until herd immunity is lost).

On the other side is small pox...The vaccine protected the carriers to the extent that the disease had no where to go and it...disappeared!!!

There was no anti-vac movement when my kids were babies so they got the full measure and they turned out fine. That's not to say that I don't have concerns with the additives in the vaccinations. I really don't know what I would do today if I were a young parent. If I were to vaccinate, I would certainly only choose the vaccinations that I thought were the most important.

Right now, as an older adult, I am faced with the decision as to whether or not to get the shingles vaccination. I definitely do not want to contract shingles as it is extremely painful from what I understand. However, I read that if you keep up your immune system, you can lower the chance of getting the disease significantly . So far, that is the route I have decided to take. I also never have received the flu vaccination and so far (knock on wood), I have had no problems. The big difference being, as an adult, I am making the decisions for myself and will suffer any consequences personally.

There hasn't been mercury in vaccines for decades, just one of the anti-vax myths.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would even consider not getting their baby vaccinated.

You are creating SERIOUS health risks for your and other people's children.

People should read up history a bit. Throughout human history, diseases and epidemics have killed more people in large numbers as they were not vaccinated against diseases. Only in the 21st century we could contain most of the deadly diseases (like plague, smallpox etc) that wiped out millions. Vaccinations and medicines have prolonged people's lives. Its essential to get your kids vaccinated to save your kids, yourself and others. Any person not vaccinated is a risk to the society.
