Hi everyone,
I have applied for higher education (master) through studera.nu. When I checked my application, I saw there is update for my 2nd preference. SG(selection group) is HPAV (higher education credits) and MR(merit rating) is 180. Is there anyone who knows more about them? Is 180 a good score for this group? What is the range of MR in this HPAV selection group? I mean what are highest and lowest scores ? I will be glad if you help me... |

I may be wrong here - but I think that this message is just showing that you have cleared the preliminary assessment for Masters level courses that you hold an approved bachelor exam valued at at least 180 swedish university credits

I agree with Puffin. As far as I know, many applicants whose SG is HPAV,their MR nomber is 180(although different universities have different SG). And as it claimed on www.studera.nu,MR number is shown only if you fulfil all the requirements. So I think it is a good news.
I'm applying sweden too,but my statuses are still application in process. God bless me.. my MSN: missleepy@163.com |

I would not be surprised if there are some weird messages on Studera - last week there were many discussions in the Swedish news about whether studeras wensite would crash or not (it didn't) as it was Sweden's application deadline on April 15th and they were recieving over 3000 applications per hour in the final days.
The results will be posted in the first week -10 days in May - so a couple of weeks to go. As soon as you get your letter apply for your visa if you are non EU as the VISA process takes 6-8 weeks normally and might be slower for applications recieved after mid June (Midsummer and staff holidays) |

I think the admission for international applicants and local applicants is separated. The number of local applicants will not impact the number of international students who will be decided to admit. But still, the huge number of documents will surely slow down the admission procedure. I emailed the admission officer of Chalmers univercity and asked them couple quesions, but I only received a very simple answer. So I think what we can do now is just wait for the final decision.

In reality it is not done separately unless it is a special course that only international students attend - the important thing for admissions officers is to fill those places as the departments funding for student courses comes from the number of students who attend the course. So although the admissions officers probably have a figure in their head of how many international offers they will make the domestic figures will weigh into the decision.
Last year my department took in a higher than normal number of international students as we had few applicants than normal on the Masters course taught in Swedish - so we transferred places to the international Masters |

SG is selection group
and MR is a kind of internal score to make common assessment between different systems from EU students with non-EU students MR 150 means you got 150 points but still, no one can tell you whether it is high or low. because they are differ from universities. incase of linkoping (which is I applied), I got MR 999 but somebody says 999 is maximum and another says maximum is 9999. and even I heard MR 1 is the highest. ;;; |

I got this from another web
Each uni has different SG and MR rules. KTH has 52 highest MR; Halmstd has 1300 highest MR;KI has 15 highest MR;Lund has 999 highest MR;Orebro has 999 highest MR and so on. SG is also useful to predict something about your MR. MR=999 with SG=DA means you have been accepted without any doubt. MR=999 with SG=OS/PG etc means you have been considered as eligible candidate but decision has to be taken. For example You applied to programme XYZ which has 10 places. Admission commitee found 15 candidates as eligible and assign them MR=999. Here the final decision will be based on gender (some uni prefer female) and your previous academic background. If you have excellent academic record then other candidates, you will receive admission letter but in case you don’t have a good academics then you will be asked to wait for 2nd round of admission and if any place is not accepted by admitted candidate then you will be offered that vacant seat. Many people who got MR=999 but SG=DA have received admission letters from universities( allthough officially admissions will be announced on 8th) but SG=DA is a something very special case and DA stand for Direct Admission. If you got OS at Uppsala then you will have to wait till 8th as I can’t say anything about this selection groups just I can translate OS as “Eligible without merit based evaluation” You should conclude from above facts about your selection group. All I knw about your selection group SG=AU is that this is very good selection group and stands after DA which is the best. People with DA have >95% chances of being admitted. People with AU have >75% chances of being admitted. For others you should refer yourself to my previous post their I have explained each and every thing. |

last year when I applied for the Master's program I'm in at Linköping, I didn't get my acceptance until the first or second week of May...and that's that I applied early too!

Many Unis have it as policy not to send anything out until May
Many want to see what the overally application pattern looks like first - sometimes the number of places allocated to each course changes |

It depends on what sort of course
- some courses advertise themselves as 'platsgaranti' which means that they guarentee to offer a place to all suitably qualified applicants - so there is no selection. - other courses offer places to all qualified applicants who applied as applications have not reached the number of places available - in this case there is no selection group. |

It is impossible to say as Universities are using different systems - and without knowing what rating every other applicant on you course has been awarded you can't know
According to KTH website they will be putting up their final offers by May 7th - so only a couple of weeks to wait |

I don't think Masters addimission will be only based by MR, it's other factors as well, such as the university you graduated from, your life expereinces, relevant working expereinces...etc...Don't think you should worry about your MR that much.
