What you call rude is called normal here. The Swedes are not rude unless you compare them to other nationalities, which is a redundant thing to do. Swedes consider we Brits to be overly polite to the point of being unclear when we speak. We Brits consider Americans to be loud and obnoxious and they consider us to have a stick up our arse. When I moved here Stockholm had hydrogen powered buses. Birmingham still had horse and cart. :-) |

I do however find meeting a person on a long walk, saying hello and not having them respond, a little creepy with the remoteness. I wear running shoes so if I had to I could perhaps put a bit of distance between me them. I don't know if that is rude or not. It does feel weird and without embellishment, what happens most of the time here. I can't bring myself to act like the other "Romans" here. If so, there would be little issue. |
