(edit title) UK to Swedish Driving licence problem with new licence Options

So, what with Brexit rearing its ugly head, a quick licence change was needed. I followed the info given on the website, and as i had C1,C1E, D1, D1E on my current licence, information regarding a medical to keep them on my licence might be required.

After maybe a week, i had a nice phone call telling me that if i wished to keep those entitlements, i would have to undergo a medical exam. As i have used the extra entitlements for income, it was worth paying for.

Medical examination paid for and passed. Further letter recieved to go and take a photo and signature arrived, which was duly done the same day.

Collected my new licence 2 days ago, but the C1E, D1, D1E have been removed.

As usual, the curse of Swedish institutions meant i spoke to someone who said i had no right to them, but could not explain whay i was asked to take a medical to keep them. The person who i did speak to has been "unavailiable" for the past 2 days, and i am still waiting to receive a follow up email to explain this.

Anyone else suffered the same fate? How did you fix it, if you did?

You just had a little taste of Swedish bureaucracy. You will be alright eventually. I'd make sure I get it sorted out before 31st of October though.

You probably had them through grand father rights in the UK. If you were over a certain age you kept them on your licence but after a certain year any new drivers didn't have them. Switching licence to a new country is a bit like a fresh start. You've lost any grand father rights.

hi, interesting to know what was medical exam cost?
myself just going to keep my EU b,c,e license, not worth exchange trouble with such high probability of swedens bureaucrats messing things up.

Perhaps this is not relevant to you. My UK licence dated from 1975. When I came to change it Germany, I lost my MC licence code. The problem is that when the UK joined the EU, the codes became harmonised but this is sometimes overlooked and classes can be lost when converting these old licences

I had kept a copy of the old licence and we had a letter from DVLA confirming the classes, so I could get it rectified.

Seems the Swedish C1 does cover "light truck with trailer" . much for EU harmonization. The D1 and D1E as someone mentioned, are different from UK regulations. However, as Dave points out, what has been given in another EU member state should be transferable, but this will have to be fought at a higher level, the main issue is once they have gone from a licence, i have been informed you can never get them back.
I paid 700kr for a medical, this applies for C1 class, and was not explained on the website or anyone i spoke to about losing the other entitlements, they seem to have gone into "ignore and perhaps he will go away" mode. I was also told C1 has to be renewed every 5 years with a medical. I used it on a regular basis when back in the UK, so was not in my interest to give it up.
Regards to Brexit, if there was no deal, UK licence will no longer be valid here anyway or anywhere in EU, save for short visits. That fustercluck is an ongoing nightmare. Thanks all.
