Here's my view, for no reason other than to inflict my opinions on a wider world:
Lars Vilks should have the freedom to behave like a twät. The rest of us should make damn sure he knows what a twät he is, he should be reminded daily, every time anyone sees him we should say "Oi! Lars! You're a twät!" Children should point and giggle at him in the street. He should die alone, ashamed and deeply embarrassed. Of natural causes. |

He is drawing the pictures and selling it in the markets for private buyer. So far he sold more than 20 pictures signed by him.
it clearly states now that he is doing this for business. I do not want him to die alone. i want to him to educate himself. |

Well you should buy up all those cartoons he's supposedly drawing and then you can destroy them to please Mohamed. Then maybe you will get a few extra young virgins in heaven ![]() |

QUOTE I do not want him to die alone. i want to him to educate himself. Well thats very noble of you... As for the educate part, the more I educate myself on religions including but not limited to Islam, the more I feel they require ridicule and derision. |

Ridicule and derision of religions is fine. Drawing a picture that looks like your kid did it of someone's god as a dog isn't funny or clever, it's just twättish. Pointlessly offensive. It's attention seeking dressed up as making a point about freedom of speech and it's not worth risking people's lives over. Stupid stupid stupid.

Well I dont want to be pedantic VHW, but Mohammad is regarded as being a prophet as opposed to a god.
To an extent I agree with you as the cartoons are neither clever, particulaly funny or indeed oozing artistic talent. Indeed some elements of society will find them offensve, but it is not the cartoonist who is risking peoples lives but rather that brainwashed religious morons who are prepared to kill because they found something offensive... I think they are all twäts as you put its just that there are twäts that kill people and twäts that draw cartoons, which do you think are worse? |

To those of you who are belching lonely death sentences to Lars Vilks or raising fingers up in the air with the threats of education regarding “respect” for all religions and all that other meaningless crap, - have you thought about the fact that you are giving Lars exactly what he wants? Media attention.
I say good for Lars. Art does not have to awlays exist just “for arts sake”. It can also be about raising a social issue, bringing upon a reaction, and in many cases pin pointing the very issues within society that surfice thanks to such art. The fact that we are foaming at the mouth over his drawings (no matter if they are esthetically pleasing, or artistically valuable) shows how much we need to have it out in the open and up for discussion. |

Well said Lauraj.
It's worth pointing out that the fact that Mohammads head is on a dog, or that the cartoons artistic qualities may be lacking etc. are all rather irrelevant. It is the actual depiction of Mohammad which Muslims find offensive and as such would make no difference whether he had a bomb in his turban or was sat drinking a nice cup of tea. The result would have been the same. |

I do agree that drawing a cartoon is less worse than rioting and killing people. It would be much more dignified to rise above it and ignore it. But it's someone being deliberately offensive against people being offended, who's worse there?
If it was any good, any good at all, I'd be ok with it. |

Can I ask a simple question?
Would people be reacting like this if it was Jesus? How often has Jesus, if he ever existed had the piss taken out of him? Or the Christian God for that matter? Never seen anyone rioting or burning over The Life Of Brian... |

The answer of course is NO
And as for the life of Brian, it wasn't actually taking the piss out of Jesus but out of religious hypocrites. a lot of pious fundy christians didn't realise it at the time but once they saw it they all calmed down. |
