I agree Geoff Boycott is the real deal, btw a scab is British English slang word for a strike (or boycott) breaker, for those of you who are wondering.

although I must say I'm wondering what the original topic title was ;-) - no input Bowdlerizing Bob ?

Yes, the Chalmers Parade. I've been once, it's ok if your Swedish is good enough to get the jokes (mine wasn't at the time), mainly for me it's an excuse to get out in the sunshine. The funniest floats I saw last time I went were the ones complaining about the exorbitent living costs of students in Göteborg, but that's because I'd just moved from London.

And it was those pesky Irish that refused to do business with Geoff (and rightly so!) that the term "to boycott" came into use and the English language.

Oh yeah... I won't be able to make it at 6pm as there's warm weather, BBQ and beers a calling...
But I'll be here until about 3!!!

Here's to the boycott of the boycott ph34r.gif

I've had kind of a busy morning so I haven't able to log in until just now, but so far I think the boycott is going great! It's nice to see you posting, Dock. smile.gif

For the sake of posting on boycott day, must say Geoff Duke as opposed to Geoff Boycott was also a British hero in another era and sport though...

It would be totally brilliant if everyone would come back at around 18:00 and post something about not posting. Hell, even start a new topic about it. And give your new topic a really obscure title.

That will give Editor Bob some work... Not only will he have to try to find more suitable titles for each new thread, but he'll have to try to amalgamate them all into one, as they'll all be about the same thing. Maybe we can help him out by at least having the work "Boycott" in the title.

It's going to be a busy day, Editor Bob!

Feel free to start now, if you like. Let's see if we can fill the whole first page with "Boycott" threads before the warnings/bannings start a-flyin'.

Regarding the calls for transparency, here's the page relating to title moderation:

My real world work is done and although I support the boycott boycott, I'm going to have to go scab because it's summer weather 4 weeks early and it'd be rude to ignore it.

Forward comrades.

I'm afraid I won't be here at 18:00 either, since I'll be out frolicking with VHW at that time. smile.gif
