Today I had to go to the doctor's surgery. To my surprise, the receptionist was sitting behind Perspex with a facemask and a visor. When I had been therefore before Christmas they were more relaxed. It now transpires that health workers have been given new advice since Christmas, to wear protective coverings for all of their shifts. This is because FHM now thinks that because of "recent research" the risk of asymptomatic transmission is greater than previously thought.

Except that this "recent research" is nonsense. Iceland did tests in April 2020 which suggested that up to 50% of transmissions were asymptomatic. The entire world has known this for ages but only now is FHM subtly changing its stance.

You have that right ! No one I know actually knows what the recommendations are, and they are different duration times, different regions, etc

This has always been the problem with Sweden's approach. They think they can just make announcements asking people to do things and everyone is going to do it. In actual fact all they are doing is preaching to the choir. The people trying to act responsibly and follow the guidelines are going to do that anyway without constantly being asked to.

The people not acting responsibly are not even watching the press conferences or they are and are too stupid/selfish to care anyway. These people are the reason rules and restrictions get brought in.

Sweden seems to be living in a fantasy land where stupid people do not exist, everyone cares about each other and everyone does the right thing.

On top of people not bothering to follow guidelines due to lack of restrictions it also allows businesses to take advantage of workers. A lot of big companies already try and get away with as much as they can to maximize profits, given the choice of taking a hit to their bottom line or risking workers most will choose the money.


Now instead of stopping people traveling to the Alps which has created a new spread they are closing places that serve alcohol slightly earlier. Unless they think the spread is coming predominantly from bars and restaurants I don't see how this will help.

If they are it will be the vaccination programme that's done it. Uk lockdown has still resulted in 500-1000 deaths, every day, since November.

Keep comparing sweden with the UK if it makes you feel better.
I mean it's thousands of miles away,different climate,more than 5 times the population,far greater population density,more poverty,more genearal unhealthiness,totally,totally different society and culture etc. But keep doing it nonetheless.

I am getting the Astra, that is for sure. My wife will have a choice if between the Pfizer/Moderna or the AZ, but she wants AZ as well.

The Norwegians must be so happy they gained their independance from Sweden, otherwise there would have been more deaths if they were forced to follow TEGNELL!
