Happens in the uk all the time and many other countries.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/202...winter-pressure Many large factories agree a preferential rate with the national grid / power providers, in return for basically cutting back on energy use when instructed, the down side is less production, employment and profit in periods of extreme demand. The public are of course in the main oblivious to it. It's normally late afternoon into early evening that demand peaks. |

In New York City, when the power grid is overloaded, electricity is taken from outlying areas and funneled to Manhattan, those areas then experience "brown outs" and some "Hoovers" don't work!!!
