I was not trying to start an argument with you--I did not even realize we were arguing.

I was only trying to ask for clarification because I was confused by the constant use of the word "racism" around this board when discussing practioners of a religion.

I did not mean to imply that you thought anything in particular. I asked you because you are a regular and know the board and are very bright --I chose you because I respect you.

I am sorry too that I intrupted your discusion with Mike. I did not realize it was wrong to do so. It is probably a bad idea to come here so sleepy as I have been doing. I won't do it again.

i wasn´t talking to you.. you started to argue with me and insiuated i was saying muslims is a race. I didn´t, i was trying to make a point about tolerance..

And since you started the argument about "muslims not = race i asked if you thought about Jews as a race since its somewhat simular. And there are also people that claims that since the muslims lion age with Abraham they can be put in the same category as Jewish people.

I'm new here so my question may be stupid and it's very early where i am and i'm still only half asleep so it may also come out stupid sounding, but here goes:

How come it seems like everyone here calls "Muslims" a race? Islam is a Religion and Muslim is what someone who practices Islam is called. Race is a biological fallacy anyway, but for the sake of argument, the Tuaregs are Musilm but not the same "Race," ethnicity, or culture as an Arab.

there is a lot of sarcasm and stinging remarks. most everyone is pretty good at keeping jabs above the belt.

sometimes people who don't know the local vernacular misinterpret the spirit of the message that involves many shared threads, emails, IMs and IRC chat. that's the only thing you have to be wary of --that what seems to be a cutting remark might actually be exceptionally endearing.

Thank you for your responses. I have a favor to ask though, and I know it proabably is impossible: It is important to me that Nico see my apology and I am afraid that the thread will evolve into something else and he won't see it (and i realize that even if it doesn't evolve, it will likely get pushed to an archive page very quickly before he comes back ). So I ask with much humility that just this once a thread be left alone--at least until it has had the chance to deliver its message.

I do undertand that it probably doesn't matter to him at all (he doesn't seem to like me much) (which is ok, it happens :wink: ) but I care about whether I offend people unintentionally when they have been fair with me...(when they haven't been, or when they insult me before giving me a chance to explain, well now that's a horse of a different color :wink: ...I mean I ain't their bitch and won't put up with them slagging thier shit on me! :twisted: :wink:

Misunderstandings happen, and not everyone agrees about everything. If someone can't accept a simple "I'm sorry, I misunderstood" then the loss is theirs. Don't let it get to you or feel that you shouldn't stop posting. I recall the thread in question, and you made several good points. Sometimes people do tend to argue hard and get worked up over a topic, but (in most cases) it's about the topic and not personal. You go right ahead and give it back to them. And if you were just asking a question and someone jumps all over you, tell them to sod off, untwist their knickers, and come back when they can answer the damn question. I didn´t even think twice about that post and moved on to do other things. But you are right about one thing, i wasn´t really that interested in discussing the whole Jewish race or not a race thing. I asked the question because there is a controversy about it and historians have non religious evidence for Abraham's connection to the Arabs. The first connection to Abraham and the Arabs throu his son Ishmael was made by a jewish historian. Abrahams next wife is said to have born him a son named Midian who then became father of the Midianites ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midianites ).

Anyway, if you had answer yes to the question i asked it would have ben interesting since the controversy. I didn´t really try to "set you up" or anything and i can agree that the question had realy nothing to do with the subject we was discussing and its was rather stupid of me.

So i didn´t actually say that muslims is a race and i didn´t call him a racist. I agree with you that the rascist card is played alot around here and the funny thing is that the poeple that are showing to be most intolerant of peoples differences, religions, cultures etc is the ones that playes the racist card. Atleast that is my observation and experience form this forum.

Point is that i was trying to show someting about intolerance from some people and i brought up that the person that claimed all swedes to be intolerant is infact intolerant himself hence my quote from him about Muslims=headchopers.

But there is a difference: The Jews at the time weren't hurting anybody, whereas terrorists today are actually killing people, and in some countries the law of Islam is quite brutal.
