Thanks again to both of you - I'm really extremely grateful for your help!

I've been reading some of the other VISA threads and the wait times are very daunting - naturallh I really want to minimise any amount of time spent apart after the birth and the thought of being trapped apart is terrifying!

Hmmm we'll give it a go when I'm there in November.

You only seem to he able to book appointments for a select few reasons - none of which are applicable to us:

This is the list if appointments from the website:

Have your fingerprints and photograph taken
Apply for an alien's passport or a travel document
Collect an alien's passport or a travel document
Collect an Asylum Seeker Card (LMA-kort)
Apply for a special allowance
Extend a visit to Sweden
Submit an online application/notification for Swedish citizenship
Collect a submitted passport after an application for citizenship

I think perhaps I should get my "no impediment to marriage" certificate and ultrasound scans ready and then simply apply the online way?

Sorry- I have another question!

I've been gathering all my paperwork and am getting worried that they dont really care about my financial situation- it's only the financial situation of my partner that counts.

As he is on disability benefit I am worried about him not being able to satisfy the maintenance requirements- given that he has his other children from his previous marriage (although they live primarily with the mother and he has them formally every other weekend and informally in between.

If we fail on the maintenance requirement, does that mean they can keep us apart despite the fact that there will be a baby?

Also I'm wondering if I can provide any supporting documentation on my application like my payslips and bank statements and mortgage statements as well as my company maternity policy showing that I will have finances to support ourselves at least for the first year. Or will that just complicate things? I'm worried that they will see the mortgage statements and wonder how I will be able to continue to pay them (the answer is that I will rent out my house or - if necessary- sell it!)

We do have a place to live - my partner lives in a house owned by his father so we dnt have to worry about large rent payments
