How do you delete your account on The Local forum? I tried looking for ways to do it but found nothing. I found ways to amend your details and all that but not what I was looking for.

Do you know? I have asked one of the moderators but the account is still there.
Does anyone else know? Can you delete an account? |

It's not a secret. There were five women in 2005 who created brunette babes and I was number 5. The reason was that there were many women haters on the forum (no change there!). Last week at work I logged into it by mistake and now am a pariah because of it. So I want to make sure that if my work computer automatically puts my other username (email address) on I cannot log in.

But apparently you cannot delete an account.
That must be it. |

Then that accounts for the thousands of names on the member roster that never made a post and goes back years.

At the very bottom of the home page you will see a link that says "unsubscribe". Make sure you are logged into the account that you wish to delete and simply click on that link. Of course there is the usual "are you sure you want to cancel your account" question, but the rest should be self explanatory.

When you say "delete an account" you can unsubscribe as has been mentioned - but all details of threads started, posts made, are still in the memory banks.
I knew someone who left Sweden in 2010 and unsubscribed - but you can still find his contributions under the "Members" heading |

Unless a post has been deleted by moderators, every post by every past and present member will be accessible if you know the members user name. That goes for members who have been banned or have voluntarily close their account.
There was a guy posting here a couple of months ago who had been in prison and wanted to hide his past which included posts he had made on TL, which current members found. Just like facebook and other social media, everything you write on-line is going to remain for a very long time. |
