Figures would need to factor in specifics, like normal winter flu deaths. Which this winter have been much much lower than normal, as flu is generally less contagious and countries covid measures have effectively stopped nearly all transmission. It's also possible that last year covid killed many of those most weak that flu would have taken this winter anyway. Playing a straight numbers game between countries is pointless, as most don't even count with the same methodology.

It's amazing really. You would think God was pretty busy with other deity duties and stuff but still God took the time to close this forum. Hallelujah! Closing this forum does not change any of the nonsensical "so-called strategy" here.... unfortunately. An active forum can't change the Stupidity, arrogance, incompetence, denial etc, etc, etc that is so prevalent in this society. Failed the elderly in the first round, failed again in the second wave (the King confirmed that)...... so actually, when have they NOT FAILED??? |

You keep going on about the King. When did he confirm it? Maybe when he was drunkenly stumbling out of a strip club? |

Do you see how painfully pathetic your argument is? This is what's killing people here, the pathetic arrogance of stupidity.... and to quote from today's article : "We need to increase the use of face masks a lot," said Rotz?n ?stlund. "Put it on before you go into the shop," she said because you don't know whether or not you'll end up in a situation where you can't keep a distance. Face Masks !!! WOW!!! Isn't that TABOO for Sweden according to your beloved Tegnell ? Countries doing good, eg Australia, Singapore, Taiwan etc, etc all followed the face mask rule A YEAR AGO and still do it and do NOT have deaths in the thousands. GROW UP SWEDES!! STOP THE DENIAL AND HELP TO SAVE LIVES!!! |

I can write this now since this thing is closing. And don't live here anymore, Hehehe. Swedes will not 'grow' up, and neither are the expressive foreign born people who belong to the Swedish fanboy club.... Most of them have the dick of Swedish 'popular' opinion so far up their ass, when they speak they taste the cum. Figured that is why they like to get drunk so much.. It washes the taste away.... |

Other countries use their digital technology to do contact tracing and keep people informed of cluster outbreaks. . Where are the very "high tech" Swedes in all of this? Pathetic....... Track and trace doesn't work when a highly-infectious disease is already endemic as even if you trace one contact there could be 100 more. Even the "high-tech" Germans' track and trace system became overwhelmed in the autumn when the outbreak became so widespread. |

Please Mr Know it all, please EXPLAIN in detail and with FACT how come those countries like NZ, AUSTRALIA, SINGAPORE etc have such LOW death rates and what are their methods? No Face masks? No contact tracing? GROW UP! |

Why do you have to be so aggressive and personal? New Zealand and Australia are isolated as islands and managed to keep it out. Singapore also isolated itself. But once exponential growth has started, it's hard to stop. One infected person can infect 20 others. So 3 people could become 60 very quickly, before test and trace has a chance to kick in. No-one still knows when and where the virus spread through mainland Europe. There's compelling evidence that it was circulating in Italy as early as September 2019, so we don't know how much it can have become seeded in other countries before it was detected. Given that at that time there was freedom of travel in and out of Italy, with no restrictive measures whatsoever,it could also have been imported to Sweden, and other European countries, and gained a foothold, before anyone knew about it. The vast majority of Europe has been overwhelmed with the disease, so it's hardly like everyone else kept it out and Sweden didn't. |

Dear Railman, I must apologize if it felt like I was being aggressive and/or personal as it was never my intention. I was just being sarcastic. You are correct that Australia and NZ are kind of isolated, but Singapore, although an island, is smack in the middle of other Asian countries. Nevertheless, all these countries took strong measures from the start, eg face masks, tracing, quarantines, etc. to protect their people. Community hospitals were set up or designated so that CV19 patients would be isolated and not further infect others. Sweden did none of this ... not even testing for CV 19 in the first round last Spring. WHY? Friends of mine who were extremely sick, were NOT tested, but told to "assume" it was Covid, and only to come into Akuten if they "could not breathe". Only in Autumn, they could get antibody tests that came out positive. They suffered a lot and another friend's husband until today is in a wheelchair due to that he was in ICU for 2.5 months and into an induced coma. He was that sick and he is 54 years old. These are all persons connected to schools and schools were not closed. How many more of those stories are out there? Perhaps you don't personally know anyone who died or suffered? Another point to consider, just our immediate neighbours, Norway, Denmark, Finland... why are their death tolls so much lower in ratio to Sweden? What did others do right to protect their people? Isn't that the way to go forward instead of defending something that has proven over and over again to "not work"? Why was the using of Face Masks such an issue, and now.....? Recommendations are changing and implemented as often as one changes clothes. There is no control of the situation at all and its way out of hand. They talk of the 3rd wave .... yes due to the skiing holidays .... that's how it started last year ... and now a repeat of last year!! |
