I wonder if Microsoft only employs people who are mentally defective.
We are fortunate to have really fast internet at home, but even so the latest Windows 10 update takes an eternity and you can't opt not to receive it. I would suggest that this is a time when the expression "if it ain't broke (more than usual for Windows) then don't fix it" might be suitable. How are people who live in areas/countries where only slow connections are available supposed to deal with this? |

That is an easy question to answer...simply go back to their finest operating system...That being windows xp service pack three...it still works for a lot of people including me!!!

Problems...I don't know what your definition of a problem is, I drive a 1999 Jeep and if a "problem" arises I fix it...The same with XP, they both take me where I want to go

When you have a solid platform the only "improvements' you can add are the Bells and Whistles kind...
Microsoft is infamous for giving you the same product features via a different method of navigating to them... The learning curve to find the new roads to where you need to go as before, far outweigh their value production/time wise... Something like "it ain't broke don't fix it"...

Not really...All that nasty stuff is aimed at the trendier operating systems...
I dabbled with Linux years ago, I may return to it, the problem then was a lack of "drivers"... |

The problem with running old operating systems is is your software eventually becomes incompatible with them

Yes, I agree I am experiencing that now with browsers...however there are still a few that I can use...I have six browsers on my machine to choose from...I sort of favour Maxthon at the moment...
Maybe in a while Microsoft(or someone else)will provide one that will be as good as XP...(was) |

I've tended to find that MS Edge and the IE predecessors always seem out kilter with any of the other browsers, FF, Chrome etc

Microsoft is at war with any other browser company...
They ruin any non Microsoft browser on their machines... Just look what they did to Netscape Navigator!!! Because of that I refuse to use any MS browser and I have not for decades...

It is a well known issue that upgrading Windows 10 causes problems. Depending on the edition and version you run, there is (no) 'official' option to keep upgrades out of your system, but you can do so anyway. There are possibilities like ... (1) mark every Wifi connection as 'with costs'. W10 will avoid downloading the big upgrades but still do the smaller hotfixes. (2) add a non-existent Proxy on localhost to the network settings. W10 will not be able to talk to the internet and will not find any updates, upgrades, but as a downside also find no security updates for Windows Safety/Defender. (3) use a VPN and/or use a variant DNS server like Adguard DNS. All methods will 100% work and are tested for years now. Ah, not to forget... (4) Use Linux.  If you still experience problems, you can also (5) ask or call an expert. |

No, NO, No...
I don't want to use it...I'm pointing out that Microsoft destroyed it because of competition...by doing so it just about guaranteed that Microsoft dominated the browser market because it was built into the operating system... |
