Travel inside of schengen waiting for extension

Hi everyone!

I'm currently waiting for a decision on my application for a permit extension. Will it be okay for me to travel inside of the Schengen zone when I'm waiting for the new permit? Based on my experience, nobody checks for my permit when I traveled inside of Schengen zone.
