Hi,

I am getting all kinds of conflicting information from everywhere so just want to get some views on this.

I am an Indian citizen working in Sweden. My company applied for my visa in July and it took just 8 days for MV to give the decision.

I got married in September and my spouse (also Indian citizen) applied for her visa at the New Delhi embassy in person. (couldn't apply online) While I read that the embassy calls the person again later for the biometrics, they took her pictures and fingerprints the same day and also took the money for the courier of the Permit card. The guy taking her fingerprints said the visa will take 1-2 months. My office told me it would take a maximum of 3 months.

However I am reading online and everyone has such horror stories that I am now scared. Any views from anyone who has been in the same situation? My permit is just valid for 2 years and if her's is going to take as long as 11 months there's no point in me staying in Sweden!

Should I take the fact that there's been no replies is because there is no one here who has faced this issue since these visas are processed fast and on time?

What date did your wife apply? It is not unusual for this type of application to be processed in five weeks.

She only applied last week, 20th October. I was hoping she could be here in time for Christmas, New Year and her birthday on 2nd Jan. Else I should start planning a trip home.

Just curious if the visa eventually came through? My husband has been working in Sweden in July (same as you) and we got married in December. Applied for my visa to join him in January and it has now been three months. I also submitted my biometrics in the embassy in Delhi but no information so far.

MV says they do not give the decision while u r in Sweden. So when you come to Sweden you should inform MV about leaving time. So even if the case officer makes a decision on ur case you will recieve it when u r back home.

My opinion it is good in early months because u r sure that you have no answer but maybe not worth it at the end.

Mine showed 1-2 months. I'm in the 4th month now. When my husband spoke to someone at MVT they said no case officer assigned and this could take 8-10 months. On email they've mentioned this link and said even though it says 1-2 months it is not a promise that the decision will be taken in the said time.
