Sweden's new work permit proposals are a definite improvement in trying to attract more working immigrants into our country, but dont go far enough.

More needs to be done if we have to compete with USA, Canada, Germany, France, UK etc. to get the best talent.

The so-called 'best talent' will always go to the most lucrative countries and they will always be the place where applicants can speak the language. So the US and UK it is, generally speaking.

The same can be said about what cities in those countries can attract the talent. London will attract people over a shithole like Birmingham, for example. The UK are having to spend billions of pounds to try and make Birmingham more attractive by building a new rail line out of the place to get to London faster.

Should have gone a lot further. Minimum wage should have been fixed at 50k sek/month.

Hillarity of the day. The student wing of the conservative party doesn't like the fact that their parent party wants to stem the flow of minimum wage cleaners, fast food workers, care takers, snow shovelers et.al. So they managed to dig up an "almost Harvard graduate" who at the time works for a startup in Stockholm. She wouldn't be allowed to work in Sweden under the new rules.

Can anyone here tell me why a graduate of Harvard wouldn't just tell a recruiter offering them less than 32k/month to go stuff their head in a paper shredder?
