Hi everyone, my family came to Stockholm and we spent three days in visiting the city, we visited HAGA PARK, the Unesco Cementery, Gamla Stam, tomorrow we are going to Vasa museum and if the weather is good we are going to walk in Djugarden, but the problem it is we have two days more, and I do not know where I could take them to visit, they like more visiting natural places and landscapes than visiting museum, so Could anyone recomend me where I could go with them close to Stockholm or in Stockholm? I saw about going to Dalarna (Mora), but it is very far.

Thank you very much in advance

David

in town you still have skansen (it's an open air museum which preserves and presents the cultural side of many regions of sweden during different ages.)

while you aren't really "museum" people, i also highly recommend going to stadshuset (the city hall). the architecture is wonderful, the tour is informative and it's where the nobel banquet is held, so there's an appeal for anyone who has ever heard of the nobel prize.

i also highly recommend a trip to sigtuna (the city is over 1000 years old) there are ruins and a very charming town to wander about in. you can combine the outing with a trip to gamla uppsala and walk around the burial mounds. there is a visitors center there now too to give added information.

taking the boat to waxholm and seeing the fortress is also a good outing. you can come back by bus.

if you like castles there are several within a reasonable drive from stockholm. drottningholm can be visited inside and the walk around the grounds is wonderful in any weather.

if any of this catches your interest and you need more detail, let me know and i'll post some links.

Did you go to the royal palace because that is cool especially the treasury which has jewellery and clothes worn by kings and queens from centuries ago! smile.gif

i never recommend the palace unless it's something you're particularly into...though i will admit the treasury is pretty ok.../me likes the bling.

Causally walk around, shop, etc., and enjoy the Swedish people you meet.

The people are the Sweden's greatest asset!

Enjoy.

In my estwhile opinion, the best places are the view of the railway station as your leaving. The morgue, the sewage pits and all the drunks throwing up on the streets.

Spotting the Royals and hoping one falls over and breaks a leg, the PM being run over by a truck driven by a Nigerian, and all the femminazies getting preggers and giving birth to midgets in pink polo shirts. Dykes on spikes falling through the ice, and Carola sniffing cocain and appering on stage with the white stuf around her nostrils, and our poster here... Eagle, getting goosed by Jonny Holms.

yes, i mean you can visit sigtuna and gamla uppsala (even uppsala) in one day if you have access to a car. if you have no car, then probably sigtuna and then uppsala and then back (check out their websites for transport)
