Don't worry guys, it won't take 20 months as they said, it will be aprox.13 months from the time you have applied. Even if it ends up being longer, just READING those nice words you wrote puts a little spring in my step today. You do make an excellent point with winter coming on! I appreciate that we can all come on here, and be ourselves (even if it's sad, or angry or miffed by the system!) and I do so love it when I see a hopeful comment here and there! I know a few of you on here are very close to getting your answers after waiting months from the interview - hang on! Your time truly is almost here! I was only back in May, so I'm just hitting my 7th month in November. Still a ways for me to go, but I appreciate any words of good or bad you all share. <3 |

May I ask what country you are applying from? I'm from the US, and just wondering ![]() Applying from Japan, doing the interview in South Korea though, where my sambo's from. We were planning on making it for both my uncle and my brother's wedding next year in June/July, but I guess we won't. |

Sweden is going to decrease taking refugees now so Migrationsverket will have to focus on other cases as well. If Sweden does not introduce border controls (which has not been proposed) then how can there be a reduction in the number of refugees? Once inside the border people have the right by UN Convention to apply for asylum. Nothing that has been proposed in the latest measures directly decreases the volume. As an earlier poster stated...get your applications in as fast as possible, don't wait for any priority etc... because it has been removed (obviously they finally realised that having the priority possibility right now was just asking for a baby boom!). Every asylum seeker that is granted asylum then will apply for family reunification permits so if 10000 come per month, then after a few months of that you can expect those applications to hit the system. The waiting times are only going to get longer. On a positive note (not for the Swedish tax payer though), when the waiting times become too long and the NGOs, media etc... start to complain about MV and those poor families waiting in the camps to come to glorious Sweden to work and pay taxes ...MV normally speeds up processing by simply approving as much as possible as fast as possible. Of-course this can lead to longer waiting times at embassies as they have minimal resources, depending where the applicants are. |

In the way that countries in Balkan will close their borders (and that is their main route) so refugees won't be able to get into Schengen in the first place. After that, number of those coming to Sweden will decrease

Exactly. You have to count on other countries on this issue. It's sad that you have to see things go worse first before it can get better, if it can... |

Do you know what MV office your case is being processed at? We called MV to find out where ours was being processed at, and asked for the direct phone number to the office. Then we called that office, and it took some coercing (they seemed hesitant to give out any information for the team leader), but finally gave us the phone number of the person who leads the team there. Also, if this is for a work permit, you might try asking your employer to contact MV to see if they can push it along or figure out what the hold up is? |

Then we called that office You do realise that this is one of the causes for delays. Each case officer works on a number of cases (not just one at a time) in parallel. Every time they receive a direct email/phone-call they have to respond to that and it has to be documented. Now, multiply up the number of people contacting each individual case officer, each day, and just how much time do they get left over to handle the cases in front of them? Do yourselves a favour, don't harass the case officers. Whilst you won't find it in statistics, case officers are threatened the most by 2 groups of people, left-wing activists and relatives of people waiting for permits (and MV staff top the league for receiving threats, so much so they don't bother to report it now).

And do you honestly believe that all these tens of thousands of people that have travelled across Turkey by whatever means will sit quietly at the border to the EU? They are determined to get in one way or another, they will just find the next route and pressure the system there into collapse. Heck they could just go back to coming via Greece, be registered in Greece then travel up to Sweden, no-one sends asylum seekers back to Greece under the Dublin agreement because of conditions there. |

LLHope, don't pretend to understand any of our situations. There are perfectly acceptable reasons in which one might need to contact MV. Do US a favor and don't presume the reasons for why someone might need to contact them. |

Panini - I have a feeling Khan did not apply for the same sambo visa as all of us... perhaps a different permit, or else different circumstances. If you would like, we have a little support group community going on facebook right now for people who have applied for a sambo permit, about 40-50 people (including their Swedes) there now. We've all been chatting and a gal from one of the Russian/Ukrainian forums confirmed on her side also that no one who applied at the end of February or later has yet received their interview email. Everyone is sort of in a holding pattern right now. The Swedish members of the group have been sharing some good news articles with us to help us all piece the current state of affairs together and stay on top of what may happen next. The link to the group is here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1502369220089678/ |
