Our very own @Julorn here just noticed that wait times for sambo permits were updated! The wait times are staying the same for this month... woo-hoo!!

I don't know how many of you actually celebrate this news, but for me, any wait time that doesn't get WORSE is a welcomed reprieve for me smile.gif I hope this brings some happiness to everyone's hearts today. MV continues to seem stable, and the decisions continue to come very consistently at 13.5 months (for cases that didn't have complications), so keep up the hope and courage, everyone! No matter if you applied recently or 1 year ago, keep focus on that 13-14 month "light at the end of the tunnel" and stay stuck on the bigger picture, regardless of whether you've had your interview email or not.

In the "good old days", people would get their decision almost immediately after their interview (we're talking hours, or sometimes a few days or a week afterwards). So don't let the details of the interview ruin you. Keep your eyes on that 13-14 month mark, you'll get your interview soon enough, and hopefully we'll see wait times even decrease in the next 6 months as MV continues to hire more people and the refugee crisis continues to lessen.

Happy day!! Waiting times page for Sambo visa here: http://www.migrationsverket.se/English/Pri...ssing-time.html

In the last couple of weeks, number of refugees has went from 10k to less than 1.5k per week. They update these waiting times every month. In my dictionary it means that either they are lazy or that they don't care about us applicants.

Our case has not seen any favourable result either..

My wife applied on 6th October, 2014 and we applied under Sambo. The reason being we weren't married then, but were planning to get married. We got married as planned in Sri Lanka where she lives on 25th April, 2015, and she was called for an interview on 3rd of June, 2015. Since then the application has been on the back burner until 14th of December, 2015 when a case officer finally picked it up.
Then she writes to me ( I have been given the power of attorney to act behalf of my wife) saying I should produce the marriage certificates to MV. This is mind you that despite producing all the documents including the marriage certificate when my wife underwent a 4 hour interview in person at the Swedish Embassy of New Delhi which is the Swedish diplomatic representation for Sri Lanka. After pointing out it was a mistake by the Embassy for missing to attach the vital documents, they arranged the documents to be handed over to the Consulate in Sri Lanka.

Now we are waiting for the application to be picked up again by someone in their so called electronic system.

I can't begin to describe the agony we both undergo. Having married, we have not been able to spend time with each other more than couple of weeks combined since April last year. Despite being a law abiding, tax paying Swedish citizen, I am beginning to think if my plan of starting a new life in Sweden is all flawed. My wife should have kept her well established career in Sri Lanka, and I could have moved into Sri Lanka to find a job At least we could have lived together that way.

I wonder whether any escalation paths are not available for delays as such - On the other hand, reading this thread, an overwhelming number of cases are processing delays mostly attributing to the refugee influx and under capacitated MV.

It is unfortunately quite common for Sweden to not have an embassy in every single country. Some applicants need to travel very far just to do their interview. sad.gif

@Abby, come join us in the facebook support group - there are close to 900 members with active pending cases, and many of them are in situations like yours. It is a Swedish-speaking group, and it is comforting to be surrounded by people who understand. Many members are currently active in the media and/or are petitioning to the government, so there are ways you can get involved. One person is trying to organize a peaceful protest in Stockholm, if that is something you would be interested in.

MV has begun to finish up decisions for November and has already begun rendering decisions for cases from December 2015, so at this point, I think you have every right to be upset. I have no doubt that you will be receiving a decision extremely soon -- I fear the holidays may have postponed your decision when you were finally able to arrange the copies of your marriage certificate.

But keep your chin up and know you are not alone! Here is the link to the facebook group. I have added your case dates to my blog spreadsheet, as surely there are others in your same position too, looking for answers... I v?ntan p? familjen Facebook group link

I hope so! It just feels awkward and selfish to call them when others really need to reach MV.

Thanks! I wasn't expecting this would be this fast. I just hope it's a positive answer since I didn't recieve any email or whatsover, just checked it on their website.

I am in a relationship with a swedish citizen. We have been sambo for three years now.

They wont tell you on the phone, this is not allowed. However the letter takes only a day or two, relax if you have had a sambo for three years it is no doubt a positive response, congrats!

Just two nights ago, a guy in Sweden (on a sambo permit) applied for PUT, and less than 24 hours later he received a (positive) decision. So, quick MV things actually DO happen!! Doesn't it feel magical?? biggrin.gif

Jen -

I love the way you think. You are very right! WE truly cannot give up, and the time DOES pass. This is not a forever wait! It will end eventually for us all smile.gif

I have added your timeline to our spreadsheet, so please keep us updated on any developments in your case. It just so happens that many people who applied in October and November 2015 are receiving their interview emails very early, so you might not need to wait so long for that step in your case. It won't make much of a difference in the overall wait time as we are told, but it will feel mentally good to probably have that step out of the way! In the meantime, at least we have each other and can make new friends with people who understand what this wait is like smile.gif
