Hi, I googled about Swedish migration and I found this website.
Reading about other people experiences definitely make me want to cry because I just applied for the visa a week ago. Lots of you guys applied for the visa like a year before me and you still don't get the answer. Some of you guys haven't got an email back yet since the first day you applied. It's really make me sad because I probably have to wait for a year too even they say on the website that it will take 4 months if I have all documents they need. I also called the Migration today and asked if someone already taking care of my case. The lady said they sent my case from Norrkorping to Orebro instead, nobody's taking care of it now and, it might take 4 months for me to get an email back. After that it might take 4-9 months to get the result. Now it's like I have to spend more than a year to get a 2 years visa and the worst thing is I can't go to Sweden to visit my fiance. So i guess the only thing I can do for now is checking email like crazy, call the Migration every month and hopefully they will give me a visa because they get annoyed super much and don't want to take my phone call anymore. ![]() Hope you guys get a visa soon. Ps. Sorry for my poor English. |

Hi Sira! Welcome to the family ![]() One recommendation I have, which I learned this the hard way, and which many many others before me told me when I first started my application process, was: Be patient. It is a very hard thing to hear and a tough pill to swallow, but the sooner we can all accept that, for better or worse, we all need to wait the same wait, the easier it gets. You will have good days and bad days, but use this time as an opportunity to start learning Swedish as best you can to get a "leg up" on the trials and tribulations of moving to a new country. Try to maybe pick up an extra job to save more money to help your transition, if that's something you can/want to do. Continue to build your relationship - technology is amazing these days, and while it isn't ideal, it can make the space and time seem less. And also, try to plan as many visits as you can afford to your loved one now, before your interview. You are allowed to visit your loved one in the beginning without worrying about damaging your application. Generally, it's only after the interview that you should meet your loved one outside of Sweden. So, focus on those little trips, and those little things that make you feel like you are contributing to a good and smooth transition. It will help you remain positive, and lessen the feeling that the next year is just a big waste of time apart from your loved one. And, keep us updated on your process! |

Welcome! It's great that you managed to get ahold of MV - 5 months here and still not a peep from them! And echoing what mjennin said, you are still able to visit sweden before your interview. Only god knows how MV works and if luck is on your side, you might just get a swift decision. Dealing with MV feels a lot like playing lottery sometimes! |

Thank you to everyone for all the congratulations. It's definitely an amazing feeling and I'm glad to give some of you hope. For those earlier into their journey than I was: the waiting times have gone down substantially and I hope that most of you will not take the time it has taken some of us who got less lucky.
Patience does not come easy but time makes it a little better. You get into a routine and it becomes "normal" for the while you must wait. I used the time to focus on my Swedish (Jag hoppas att jag kan hoppa |

Tack! ![]() I'm trying not to think about the time so I probably get used to this routine soon. Ps. I really wonder why they sent my case from Norrkoping to Orebro. Does anyone has the same experience? |

Ps. I really wonder why they sent my case from Norrkoping to Orebro. Does anyone has the same experience? Personally, I have no idea where our case is being handled. I thought that was sort of a "thing of the past" after they moved to online applications. But it could be that one office had more capacity than the other? I've read that some offices are used to process more of the asylum applications - this may or may not be true. At this point, I really don't know how MV functions or shares information, etc. ![]() |

Sira - For what it's worth (I know when I first started out, I wanted as much information as I could get), the way I understand the process is, you don't get assigned a case officer until much later in the process. When you submit your application, it is put into the queue until it is your turn (which seems to average about 4-6 months) until an MV admin can review the file and confirm it is ready (and they are ready) for your interview to be scheduled. Then after the interview, it goes back in the queue, back in line with everyone else, until it is your turn for a case officer to review the file (which we've seen, read, and have been told takes another 4-8 months). Our consulate and MV have both said that once you get a case officer, the decision is made fairly rapidly; it's more just waiting for your turn to come up, that takes the longest. But as S |

When my SO visited the migration board three months ago, he was told that sambo visa (I am non-EU) will take 1 - 1.5 years to process. 10 days ago he contacted the migration board and was told that cases like ours are expected to take more then 9 months to process. The 4-9 months period they posted on their website is a lie. Their lack of communication and consistency is very embarrassing and torturing
