I think the biggest reason that refugees are getting their decisions faster than us is because Migrationsverket has to pay for their expenses while they wait for their decision and after that municipalities have to take care of them.
So, the faster they get their decision the less cost for Migrationsverket.
That's why they are prioritised to us not because of their home countries situation as you said they are in a safe country now. ... (hide full quote)

Not at all snarky By the way, I have been lurking here for a while and admire your optimistic support of people here.
No concrete source. We have had 80 Eritireans here in the village. They came to Sweden Oct 14and were moved on by migrationen in July. I have contact with about 25% of them and some of them are just beginning to get permission. But, as with us, the casework is slowing down. Six of the Eritreans have returned to the village when we found housing for them and three of these now have work part time and go to school part time. Two weeks ago we got 100 Syrians to the village. Now this is a parish (not just the village) of 192 people.. So you can imagine -life is a challenge.
So, I cannot quote anyone, I can only state how long each individual is waiting. I can also say that we have two gentlemen with big feet who cannot leave the asylum at the moment because we have not been able to get big enough shoes for them. Yes, they will be able to get money from Migrationen (us taxpayers) but after 2 months and this money has to be used for a lot of other things.
Please, dear Mjennin, I am not trying to be snarky either, it is just that they are coming and we have to make the best of it. My partner is here at the moment and he was playing dominoes with some of them. They were feeling sorry for him because he has to leave the country for 3 months - thought is was very unfair

You know, after a moderate depression after seeing this, I realized this update is actually the first thing I've seen come out of MV that I can trust. I don't think this update is anything more than just MV getting tired of people emailing them because their original wait times were clearly and utterly incorrect, and finally they are just being real about how long it will take. So many of us have been told we were in the "middle group", which was saying 4-9 or 5-10 months processing times, and 9, 10, 11 months would pass with no news for so many people. I'm sorry to be bearer of bad news but few days ago I had a conversation with MV and they have told me that those waiting times presented on their website are not reliable (are not followed). You would think that you are in group 1 but you would wait as long as you were in group 3. But the good news is that I have talked with some friends of mine who works at MV and they have told me that every single application is processed in order they came to MV unless it has a priority stamped on it. So the real question is: which month/year is they are processing atm?

If we go by what people have been reporting on this forum, it would appear that those who applied in September 2014 are just starting to receive their decision, possibly even those who applied October 2014.

I applied in April 2015 and according to the 'old' processing time, should be expecting to be contacted for interview either this month or the next. If I don't...well I will take it as pretty solid evidence that processing times have been extended as a whole.

Fear not, this is not bad news - I've been aware of this since the very start It just seems that they are becoming a little more realistic with their wait times finally.

In early September, they were processing applications from August 2014. At the beginning of October, they were processing September 2014 applications and *some* October 2014 applications.

We've seen a few TLers get their decision within 12-13 months very recently! So the numbers seem to be tying out, but it also seems those wait times are really only applicable to people who should be receiving a decision within 4 weeks of the new times. For everyone else, more delays compound the queue and it's just too hard to say how they will get affected with each passing month.

We are still hopeful we will receive a decision by February, which will be +/- 14 months for us. When we started out, that was the absolute worst-case scenario. And now... it's the best case!

Make sure you read very carefully whatever papers arrive from the court, depending upon who submits for divorce. When submitting for divorce and there are children involved it is possible to change the custody arrangement on the form submitted, the normal default is 50/50, assuming you already have 50/50. There is a so-called cooling off period, 6 months, if you have children, by which I mean once the application is submitted to the court for divorce the divorce is not actual, you have to inform the court after 6 months, and before 12 months, that you want to finalise the divorce decision. It is not automatic at 6 months, you can just send an email or something to confirm that the divorce is to be finalised.

Remember, in Sweden custody is like the merger of custody common in other countries. Custody means who has legal power to decide over the child. For example, even though you have 50/50 custody you could both agree that the child lives with just 1 parent 100%, living with is not the same a deciding. Some countries split this into things like custody = living with, then comes legal custody=decision making etc... not in Sweden, it is about decision making, and those decisions cover everything.

Remember that assets are divided equally between divorcing spouses, the break-point for the calculation of assets to be divided is the date the court processes the first divorce request (whichever partner submits it) and not when the divorce is finalised. This is to make it fair so that if there is a cooling period due to children, one spouse cannot just go out and transfer assets, spend like crazy etc... before the division of assets If you have a rented home, then whoever needs the home the most gets it.

If in doubt about the division of assets you can request the court to appoint an independent person that will help with the division process

If you do not have permanent residency then just make sure you get some portion of custody, failing that, then visit agreement ...then you can get permit based upon the relationship to children. ... (hide full quote)

From what someone recently said on the other active thread, it sounds like MV is only just now getting into the October applications. Seems like decisions are coming through in 12-13 months as of recent, so they may not get to November 2014 apps until December 2015. Just an educated guess -- hell might freeze over, or pigs might start to fly between now and then, and things could go quicker!

I think MV is working on cases from November 2014; as I got a mail from them yesterday that asked to send my passport back to them to give me a decision.

I've applied for a citizenship Nov-2014
So, my question is: as they asked for a passport does that mean they will accept my request or will they reject it? (I mean if they wanted to reject my application, they could send a rejection letter and instead of requesting my passport, right?)

Any comments?

Your application will be reviewed when you have submitted your passport, it is too early to know if your application will be approved or not.

Most between 2-3 weeks, if not lesser than that. Wait for it...it's almost here.

Me and my sambo also applied in April this year, and I got a mail from MV this week, saying that it'll most likely take 8-9 months from the application date, to get an interview ;_;
